Girls soccer: Amity defeats Shelton

The Amity High girls soccer team got a pair of goals from Alexa Gibbs to post a 2-0 victory over Shelton High at Finn Stadium on Tuesday.

Gibbs scored in the 53rd and 57th minute, while Sarah Skoronski pulled back a goal for the Gaelettes in the 70th minute, off of an assist from Kathryn Arena.

Courtney Litts made three saves for Shelton and Shelby Offord notched two.

Shelton dropped to 5-2-3 overall, 2-1-2 in the SCC Housatonic Division. Amity improved to 5-1-5.

Prior to that, the Gaelettes clobbered Lyman Hall, 6-0, in a Housy matchup.

Kaleigh Panek netted a hat trick, while Michelle Gutierrez, Arena and Kyle Opper added single markers.

Mary Lewis, Taylor Doolan and Olivia Gill had assists, while Skoronski had two helpers.

Litts made three saves and Offord four.
