Boys soccer: Shelton pins first loss on Cheshire

The Gaels defeated the Rams 3-0 on Friday night at a cold Finn Stadium.

Both defenses were tough in the first half, with each team registering only one shot each on net.

The Gaels (7-4-1) broke through in the second, when Connor Prindle converted on a direct kick from the 25-yard line.

Nine minutes later, Ryan Smith netted the second Shelton goal.

The Gaels put it away four minutes later, when Isaijah Robles scored off of an excellent lead pass by Kyle Gil.

The Shelton defense was strong all night, powered by centerbacks Liam Keary and Justin Widomski. Casey Cisero stopped the only shot on goal by the Rams (9-1-1).
