The Shelton High seniors went out in style as the girls soccer team won its 10th game of the season with a 6-1 victory over Lyman Hall on Monday night at Edward Finn Stadium.
The SCC victory marked the first time in four seasons that the Gaelettes got double digits in wins, as Shelton won its fifth straight game and is peaking just in time for the post season.
Senior captains Michelle Gutierrez, Juliane Niedzwiecki and Jillian Engeldrum along with senior Taylor Doolan walked onto the home field for the last time in their career during the regular season and were honored by family, friends and fans.
Kaleigh Panek led the attack scoring two goals. Kylee Opper, Kathryn Arena, Daisy Dufour and Kristen Shuster added goals, with Doolan, Engeldrum and Erin Keary earning the assists.
Shelby Offord made one save in the net and Courtney Litts was in the net in the second half for Shelton. The Gaelettes outshot Lyman Hall by a 16-3 margin and Aquia Providence made five saves in the net for the visitors from Wallingford with Alexa Eves scoring the only goal.
Shelton will conclude the regular season on Wednesday at Jonathan Law in Milford before competing in the SCC tournament beginning this Saturday.
