Lynn Farrell for re-election

*The Herald will be running several candidates’ bios on the website up until Election day, Nov. 3 because they didn’t appear in our last issues of the paper.

Dr. Farrell has been an Alderwomen in Shelton since 2004.  She began her career as a school teacher in West Haven, CT and continued her career in education into school administration as a principal.  She continued her education pursuing and receiving her degree and JD in law from Quinnipiac Law School.  She is presently a partner in her family law firm in Wallingford, CT where she advocates for students in the New Haven Courts.  She has been admitted to and is a qualified attorney in the State of CT Superior Court, US Distrcit Court and the US Supreme Court

She was appointed by Gov. Jody Rell to serve on the State Board of Education from 2004-2011 and has numerous awards for her advocacy for children from many civic organizations.  She is a member of the Board of Trustees of Albertus Magnus College  and is a director of the CT Mental Health Foundation and also sits on many other boards to advance education and children’s rights in the New Haven and Fairfield County.  She is also a board member of ACES and advocates for them and the children whom they serve throughout the area.. Dr. Farrell has given many presentation and participated and presented workshops related to education throughout the state of Connecticut including a CT PTA program entitled “Principals and Parents-Developing Working Partnerships”.  She believes in and has as an Alderman in Shelton recognized the importance of providing each child with the best possible educational programs which meet the needs of each child.  She was an advocate of Full Time Kindergarten and has consistently voted to provide funds to improve the educational programs in Shelton along with the security measure which are now required for the safety of our Shelton school students.

Dr. Farrell is a proud member of the Board of Alderman and would like to continue to serve in this capacity to be able to assist as an advocate for our children and all the citizens of Shelton in any way possible.  She has an impeccable record of attendance to municipal meetings and functions and participates in all activities to further the City of Shelton as a place to enjoy low taxes, great educational experiences and a safe
