Teen arrested after alleged gun threat

A 17-year-old was arrested Monday after police said he made a threat on social media.

On Nov 1. the Shelton Police received a complaint from a parent of a Shelton High School student.

The concerned parent showed officers a Twitter post which read: “I have a gun and I think I’m going to use it tomorrow.” The parent said she believes the message was posted by a Shelton High School student. A subsequent investigation revealed the Twitter message was posted by a 17-year-old male who attends Shelton High School.

The juvenile was arrested early morning on Nov. 2 and charged with second-degree breach of peace. The juvenile was released on a Promise to Appear to his parents and scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Juvenile Court later this month. During the investigation it was determined the juvenile did not possess a gun.

The Shelton High School administration was notified of the incident and Shelton Police are working with school officials regarding the incident.
