War vets cheer up the youth of the area

During this season of Thanksgiving Catholic War Veterans (CWV) and Auxiliary Post 1562 held a non-perishable Food and Toy Drive and wishes to thank the public for their support.

Members dressed as Santa, a turkey and elves collected items and monetary contributions as donors drove by the Post. The food was delivered to the Saint Vincent DePaul’s food bank in Derby and the toys will supplement the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program.

Toy donations will still be accepted until Dec. 13, with donations being delivered to the Post located at 112 Derby Avenue, Derby after 1 p.m. CWV and its auxiliary are always looking for new members to help with projects like this. Stop by the post after 1 p.m. for more information to join.

Dave Browning, Maxine Sember, Lisa Francouer, Beth Smith, Dawn Kramer, auxiliary president Evelyn Browning, Laura Paige and Mark Kramer stand with toys to be given to children in need.
