The recipe we are sharing with you today is perfect for your holiday table but also makes the perfect gift. This recipe was given to me many years ago and everyone that tastes them cannot believe the flavor. The aroma that fills the house is decadently intoxicating. Be careful — these sugared nuts are addicting, so be ready to make more than one batch!

1 lb nuts of choice — pecans, walnuts
1 cup vanilla sugar*
2 egg whites
1 stick butter
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 300º. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper. In a small pan melt the butter and add the vanilla. In a mixing bowl, beat the whites. Gently add the sugar until the whites are stiff and shiny from adding the sugar. Add in the nuts and mix gently until coated. Spread the nut mixture in a layer onto the cookie sheet. Now pour the melted butter mixture all over the nuts. Bake for 35-40 minutes depending on your oven, all oven temperatures are slightly different. Don’t burn them!!!
*Vanilla Sugar (Twins’ favorite sugar): Mix 2 cups white sugar and 1-2 split vanilla beans. Gently push the beans into the sugar. Store in an airtight container. Swirl the jar for a few days so the vanilla beans can perfume the sugar…it is amazing!
