What a magical time of the year. A time to be with family and friends enjoying a meal or even preparing it together. Wow, a whole lot of cooking and eating is going on! So many wonderful recipes will be prepared and devoured.
Some people love to experiment and try new dishes but there are others who stick to the traditional recipes, the staples of the holidays and true to their roots…and you know what? We love these dishes. They are reminders of that special day growing up and bring warmth and comfort that make your family traditions yours!
This wonderful brie is a special favorite of our family. Joy makes this recipe every year and our family and friends are waiting for us to serve it! You can prepare part of this ahead of time; that’s a must when hosting the holiday meal. Pick out your serving dish for the brie and combine the nuts, honey and thyme in a small saucepan. This way you won’t be stressed and get everything out on time. The holidays are here….let’s enjoy every minute of it!!

Baked Brie with Figs
1 round of brie cheese
5 fresh figs, halved
honey for each fig
1/2 cup of walnuts/pecans, roughly chopped
1/3 cup honey
fresh thyme leaves
Preheat oven to 350. Place figs on baking sheet and top each with a drip of honey. Bake for 15 minutes. Remove from oven. Preheat oven to 375. Place brie cheese on baking sheet with parchment paper, bake for 12-17 minutes, until cheese starts to ooze out.
In the meantime, heat a small saucepan to medium high heat. Add walnuts, honey, and nutmeg and 2 sprigs of thyme. Heat until honey is more liquid-like. Remove pan from the heat. Remove cheese from oven, place on a serving dish top with roasted figs and pour honey-walnut topping over brie. Sprinkle with thyme leaves. Serve with toasted baguettes.
