Shelton Police Department arrested 36-year-old licensed medical marijuana user William Frascatore for allegedly having a “marijuana grow operation” at his 43 Quaker Ridge Road home.
Police responded to a call from Frascatore at around 10:30 a.m, Friday morning when he reported that he was the victim of a home invasion.
Shelton police and detectives responded to the call and when they arrived Frascatore reported that two men entered his home through an open door and surprised him in his bedroom.
According to police, Frascatore said the men then tied him up and then began making their way through the house.
The Valley Independent spoke with Frascatore following the incident and he claimed that he wasn’t tied up or assaulted, but the men did flee the house with jewelry and a cell phone.
Frascatore said he looked out the window and saw the men escaping in an older silver Honda Accord with a loud muffler.
During the investigation a “marijuana grow operation” was discovered in Frascatore’s basement, according to a press release sent out by police.
Detectives were granted a search warrant for the residence due to the potent smell they detected when they were searching the house for suspects. Following their entry, officers seized several marijuana plants and dried marijuana which added up to more than 40 ounces along with growing equipment, according to a statement by Detective Bango .
Frascatore apparently provided police with his medical license and proof of him legally purchasing the marijuana. The only problem was Frascatore had over 16 times the legal limit, which is 2.5 ounces
He was arrested and charged with cultivation of marijuana, operating a drug factory, possession of marijuana over 4 ounces, possession with intent to sell, use of drug paraphernalia, and two counts of risk of injury of a minor.
He is scheduled to appear in Derby Superior Court on Jan. 22.
The home invasion is still being actively investigated by Shelton Detectives. They have asked that anyone with information regarding this incident to contact the Shelton police Department at (203)-924-1544.
