Shelton Fire Department incident responses

On Jan. 4 at 5:53 am the Huntington Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to #29 Cameo Drive for a smoke investigation in the home. No further information was reported. One engine and one ladder truck responded.

On Jan. 4 at 12:03 pm the Pine Rock Park Co. #4 and the Echo Hose H & L Co. #1  responded to an automatic fire alarm sounding at a commercial building at #88 Long Hill Cross Road. There was no fire. Smoke from a newly started heating unit caused the alarm. One engine, one ladder truck and one tower truck responded.

On Jan. 4 at 2:42 pm the Pine Rock Park Co. #4 and the Echo Hose H & L Co. #1 responded to #11 Manhassett Trail for a carbon monoxide detector sounding. Firefighters found no gas levels in the home. One engine and one rescue truck responded.

On Jan. 4 at 5:02 pm the echo Hose H & L Co. #1 responded to #29 Summit Street for an activated carbon monoxide detector sounding. No further information was reported. One engine responded.

On Jan. 4 at 7:26 pm the Pine Rock Park Co. #4 responded to #13 Horseshoe Drive to assist the home owner with retrieving a pet stuck in a boat trailer. One engine responded.

On Jan. 5 at 9 am the Huntington Co. #3 and the Echo Hose H & L Co. #1 responded to an automatic fire sprinkler water flow alarm sounding at Split Rock Complex #702 Bridgeport Avenue. Upon arrival firefighters forced entry to the Asian Bistro Restaurant where they found a broken sprinkler pipe flowing  water. The restaurant and a café below sustained water damage as a result. One engine, one tower truck and one ladder truck responded.

On Jan. 5 at 10:19 am the Huntington Co. #3 and the Echo Hose H & L Co. #1 responded to a motor vehicle accident on route 8 north bound between exits 13 and 14. One engine and one rescue truck responded.

On Jan. 6 at 2:38 pm the Echo Hose H & L Co. 31 and the Pine Rock park Co. #4 responded to an automatic fire alarm sounding from Unit #28 AT THE Helen DeVaux Housing Complex at #91 Howe Avenue. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm. One engine responded.

On Jan. 6  at 6:39 pm the Echo Hose H & L Co. #1 responded to #118 Myrtle Street to assist the homeowner with a water leak. One rescue truck responded.

On Jan. 7 at 8:20 am the Echo Hose H & L Co. #1 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to #153 Center Street to assist with a broken water pipe on the second floor. Firefighter forced entry into the locked unit and found a pipe under a sink had disconnected and caused the water to flood the second and a first floor unit. One engine responded.

On Jan. 7 at 12:49 pm the Huntington Co. #3, Echo Hose H & L Co. #1 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to KinderCare at #2 Trap Falls Road for an odor of burning in the facility. Firefighters found a light ballast had overheated and caused the odor. Two engines, one tower truck and one ladder truck responded.

On Jan. 7 at 5:31 pm the Pine Rock park Co. #4 and the Echo Hose H & L Co. #1 responded to  Laurel Wood Drive and Long Hill Avenue for an odor of natural or propane gas in the area. Firefighters searched the area but found no source of the odor. Two engines and two rescue trucks responded.

On Jan 7. at 2:22 pm the Huntington Co. #3 responded to a report of an open burn in the rear of #383 Booth Hill Road. The fire was extinguished without incident. One engine responded.

On Jan 9. at 6:21 am the Echo Hose H & L Co. #1 responded to assist EMS personnel with removing a a patient at #126 Oak Avenue. One recue truck and one utility truck responded.

On Jan. 9 at 12:49 pm the White Hills Co. #5 responded to a report of smoke in the area of Morgan Court .  Firefighters arrived and determined the smoke was from a legal burn taking place on Leavenworth Road.  One engine responded.

On Jan. 9 at 3:58 pm the Echo Hose H & L Co. #1 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to Riverview Avenue for an occupied vehicle hanging over an embankment. Firefighters arrived and stabilized the vehicle and assisted the occupants out. Two engines and one rescue truck responded.

On Jan. 9 at 4:38 pm the Echo Hose H & L Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Park Co. #4 responded to a motor vehicle accident in the area of #521 River Road.  One engine and one rescue truck responded.

On Jan. 10 at 4:16 pm the Pine Rock Park Co. #4 and the Echo Hose H & L Co. #1 responded to an automatic fire alarm sounding at #195 Rocky Rest Road. Upon arrival firefighters observed through windows a smoke haze in the unoccupied home. Firefighters forced entry and found food left on the stove to cook caused the smoke the activated the alarm. Two engines and one rescue truck responded.

On Jan. 10 at 4:53 pm the Huntington Co. #3 responded to the Fairchild Heights Housing Complex on Bridgeport Avenue for a report of utility wires sparking on top of a pole. One engine responded.

On Jan. 10 at 6:27 pm the White Hills Co. #5 responded to #8 Meghan Court for an activated carbon monoxide detector sounding. No further information was reported. One engine responded.

On Jan. 10 at 2:51 am the Echo Hose H & L Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Park Co. #4 responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection off South Constitution Boulevard and Waterview Drive. One engine and one rescue truck responded.
