The Lions improved to 23-3 and the Gaels dropped just their second match of the season, falling to 18-2.

Eight of the bouts went into the third period in this evenly-contested clash.

At 106 pounds, Shelton’s Steven Reyes pinned Mike Giordano in 5:27.

In the 152 division, Shelton’s Delonne Sloan pinned Umer Khan in 44 seconds.

Shelton forfeited two weight classes – the 160 and 170 pound divisions – because of injuries, enabling 160-pounder Noah Hubler and 170 grappler Charles Cornell to pick up victories.

In the 195 division, Shelton’s Ray Weiner got past Colby Stuart in a 6-5 decision.

The match was even at 4-4 in the third period and could have gone either way before Grinder finished things off.
