On Feb. 4 at approximately 8:45 am, an undercover Shelton Detective observed a hand-to-hand drug transaction between a man and woman in a parking lot on the corner of Bridgeport Ave. and Perry Hill Road.
The detective stopped Kari Franco ,45, of Howe Ave. in Shelton and several “folds” of heroin were allegedly discovered in her possession,according to a press release sent out by Detective Richard Bango.
Franco was charged with sixth-degree larceny and third-degree burglary on Aug. 22. 2015 but was released on bond of $500.
Later that year Franco was arrested again for breaking into a vehicle. Franco was charged with third-degree robbery, third-degree burglary and sixth-degree larceny. She was later charged with violation of probation. Franco was held on a $500 bond.
After further investigation, detectives identified Joshua Roman, 20, of Bridgeport Ave., as as the man who sold Franco the heroin, according to Bango’s statements.
Franco was arrested and charged with Illegal Possession of Heroin and was released on a Promise to Appear in Derby court on Feb. 10.
Roman was also arrested and charged with Possession of Heroin with intent to sell and Possession of Heroin within 1500 feet of a school and released on a $10,000 bond and given a court date of Feb. 18.
Police are continuing to investigate drug activity in the downtown area as well as throughout the city and are asking anyone with any information to contact the department. Your calls may be confidential.
