A multi-jurisdictional task force involving Milford, Stratford, Orange, Shelton and Trumbull police departments announced on Friday, Feb. 5 the arrest of Tanya Abdur-Raheem, 56, of Stratford for her alleged involvement in a scheme to resell stolen jewelry.

Police launched an investigation after a series of burglaries in Fairfield and New Haven counties during November, 2015.

Their investigation revealed that a burglary suspect had sold jewelry stolen from a residence in Milford to Abdur-Raheem, who was advertising that she purchased gold.

Police say that Abdur-Raheem was purchasing the stolen jewelry without a required precious metal license and was then selling the jewelry to a pawn shop in Bridgeport.

Abdur-Raheem is charged with precious metal violation and fifth-degree larceny. Bond was set at $2,500 for court on March 1.

Police say investigators were able to recover several pieces of jewelry from the Bridgeport pawn shop for the homeowner whose house was burglarized.
