Fire Incident Responses

On Feb. 2 at 8:31 pm the White Hills Co. #5 and the Huntington Co. #3 responded to a report of an odor of gasoline at #26 Megan Lane. Firefighters found gasoline leaking from a snow blower in the garage was the cause. Two engines responded.

 

On Feb. 2 at 2:49 am the Huntington Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to a report of smoke in the area of Lark lane and Quaker Ridge Road. Firefighters checked the area and determined the smoke was from several wood stoves or fireplaces in use. One ladder truck responded.

 

On Feb. 3 at 2:22 pm the Echo Hose H & L Co. #1 and the Huntington Co. #3 responded to a motor vehicle accident on route 8 south bound near exit 13.One engine and one rescue truck responded.

 

On Feb. 3 at 3:06 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and the Echo Hose H & L Co. #1 responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident on route 8 north bound near exit 13. Two engines and one rescue truck responded.

 

On Feb.3 at 3:46 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and the echo Hose H & L Co. #1 responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident on route 8 north bound near exit 11. Upon arrival firefighters found no accident but a disabled vehicle. One engine responded.

 

On Feb. 3 at 4:43 the Echo Hose H & L Co. #1 responded to the area of #542 Howe Avenue for a transformer fire on top of a utility pole. One engine responded.

 

On Feb.3 at 4:46 pm the Echo Hose H & L Co. #1 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to an automatic fire alarm sounding from the Subway Sandwich Shop at #462 Howe Avenue. There was no fire. The cause of the alarm was not determined. One engine and one ladder truck responded.

 

On Feb. 3 at 7:31 pm the Pine Rock Park Co. #4 and the Echo Hose H & L Co. #1 responded to check on  water leaking into an electrical box in a garage. Two engines responded.

 

On Feb. 4 at 6:53 am the Echo Hose H & L Co. #1, Pine Rock Park Co. #4 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to #33 Hull Street for a report of a fire in a machine shop. Upon arrival firefighters found a small fire in fiberglass insulation. The fire was caused when an electric heat cord used to keep a water pipe from freezing short circuited. Damage was confined to the insulation.

 

On Feb. 4 at 4:06 pm the Echo Hose H & L Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Park Co. #4 responded to a report of a fire that occurred at #1 Murray Avenue. The fire, which occurred on a stove top,  was out upon arrival of firefighters. Damage was minimal. One engine, one rescue truck and one ladder truck responded.

 

On Feb. 4 at 4:28 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and the Echo Hose H & L Co. #1 responded to a report of a car fire on route 8 north bound before exit 13. There was no fire. A vehicles radiator overheated and was mistaken for a fire. Two engines responded.

 

On Feb.4 at 7:30 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to #30 Newcastle Drive for a liquid that had spilled from a 55 gallon drum in the driveway. No further information was reported. One engine and one rescue truck responded.

 

On Feb.5 at 9:06 am the Huntington Co. #3 responded to the area of #28 Woodfield Drive for a power line down in the street. One engine responded.

 

On Feb.5 at 9:14 am the Echo Hose H & L Co. #1 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to an automatic fire alarm sounding from #43 Sinsabaugh Heights at #187 Meadow Street. There was no fire. A dead battery in a smoke detector was the cause of the alarm. Two engines responded.

 

On Feb.5 at 10:28 the Pine Rock Park Co. #4 responded to the area of #20 Murray Avenue for a report of power lines down in the road. No power lines were down but phone and cable were down. One engine responded.

 

On Feb. 5 at 10:48 am the Huntington Co. #3 responded to the area of #19 Soundview Drive for power lines down in the area. Firefighters found no power lines down but phone and cable lines down. One engine responded.

 

On Feb.5 at 11:11 am the Echo Hose H & L Co. #1 responded to the area of #70 Platt Road for a report of power lines down in the road. Firefighters found an energized power line down upon arrival. Firefighters stood by and protected the area until the arrival of a repair crew from UI. One engine responded.

 

On Feb.5 at 11:51 am the Huntington Co. #3 responded to the area of #44 Meadowlark Drive for a report of a power line down in the road. Firefighters arrived and found phone lines down in the road not power lines. One engine responded.

 

On Feb.5 at 12:52 am the Echo Hose H & L Co. #1 responded to the area of #195 Myrtle Street for a report of power lines down in the road. No power lines were found down. Wire insulation was mistaken for the wires. One engine responded.

 

On Feb.5 at 1:25 pm the White Hills Co. #5 responded to Indian Well Road for power lines down in the road. Firefighters arrived and found energized power line down across the road that were fallen by a tree. Power was out in the area for quite some time due to the issue. One engine responded.

 

On Feb. 5 at 1:41 pm the Echo hose H & L Co. #1 responded to the area of #180 Howe Avenue for a report of a power line down in the road. Firefighters arrived and found phone lines down in the road not power lines. One engine responded.

 

On Feb. 5 at 2:46 pm the Echo Hose H & L Co. #1 responded to the area of #19 East Knollwood Terrace for wires down in the road. One engine responded.

 

On Feb.5 at 4:22 pm the Echo Hose H & L Co. #1 responded to the area of #187 Howe Avenue for wires down on a vehicle. Upon arrival firefighters determined the wires were not energized and secured them. One engine responded.

 

On Feb.6 at 2:42 am the Echo hose H & L Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Park Co. #4 responded to assist EMS with removal of a patient at #107 ½ Hill Street. One engine responded.

 

On Feb. 6 at 8:10 am the Echo Hose H & L Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Park Co. #4 responded to #85 Newport Avenue to assist EMS with removal of a patient. One engine responded.

 

On Feb.7 at 9:11 am the Echo Hose H & L Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Park Co. #4 responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Howe Avenue and Center Street. Two engines, one rescue truck and one utility truck responded.

 

On Feb.7 at 11:12 am the Echo Hose H & L Co. #1 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to #74 Jane Street for a carbon monoxide detector sounding. One engine responded.
