Shelton High’s Samantha Stevens was the shot put champion with a throw of 41-1.25 at the Class LL Indoor Track Championships held in New Haven on Thursday.
Danbury, Ridgefield, Glastonbury, Staples and Greenwich were the top five teams in girls scoring. Shelton’s girls team placed ninth..
Stevens’ throw garnered her first place over Jessica Robbins of Danbury (33.6.25).
The 4×400 relay of Nadia Wilson, Olivia Gill, Amy Lynders and Abigail Turco placed 10th in 4:25.96.
Lynders, Virginia Lewis, Wilson and Gill took 10th in the 4×800 (10:39.46).
Tanya Adler, Alexandra Schaible, Wilson and Turcio were 10th in the 1600 sprint medley relay (4:41.61).
Sara Lipinski was 16th in the long jump (14-04.50) and Julie Turner was 18th in the shot put (26-07.75).
The 4×200 relay was 20th in 1:57.97, led by Elizabeth Herlily, Lipinski, Kristen Shuster and Schaible.
Lewis was 33rd in the 3,200 (12:57.38).
The Gaels’ Tyler Hansen placed third in the 55-meter run with a time of 6.59, as Shelton boys placed ninth.Devonte Clarke from Danbury ran a 6.47 to win the 55-meter.
Danbury was boys team champion, followed by Brien McMahon, Glastonbury, Amity, Staples, Hamden and Trumbull.
Patrick English took fourth in the 600 meter (1:25.90) and the junior was sixth in the 300-meter dash (37.78).
Zach Deptula was fifth in the 55-meter hurdles (8.28).
Kolbe Laing was fifth in the long jump (20-02).
The 4×400 relay team of Joe Wannagot, Chris Pereira, Joe Lombardi and English were sixth (3:39.23).
The 4×200 relay team of Hansen, Jostin Cobb, Laing and Matthew Bean took seventh (1:36.95).
The 1600 sprint medley team of Hansen, Cobb, Wannagot and Lombardi placed ninth (3:51.62).
The 4×800 relay team of Pereira, Josh Sacoto, William Simics and Rob Dillon took five-plus seconds off their seed time to place 11th (8:54.91).
Lombardi was 14th in the 1000 (2:47.33).
Dillon was 16th in the 3200 (10:07.97).
