CT Pulse, a show on politics, what’s trending in the Constitution state and more, airs Wednesdays at 12:30. Watch it on demand later, or see this week’s show below:
CT Pulse is hosted by Kate Czaplinski and Josh Fisher, both former Connecticut newspaper editors. Josh is HAN’s executive producer and Kate is news director.
This week, Josh and Kate interview fellow HAN staffers on their nominations for journalism awards. The winners will be named at this weekend’s New England Newspaper and Press Association Conference in Boston.
Darien Times Editor Susan Shultz and HAN Broadcasting Sports Director Rob Adams discuss their joint nomination for a multimedia award. Their coverage of the shocking end to a girls hockey game earned them the nod.
Michael Catarevas, managing editor of the New Canaan Advertiser, talks about the story that walked right in his office one day, leading to his nomination in the sports feature category.
Patricia Gay, editor of The Weston Forum, is nominated for an environmental reporting award for her story on the return of the osprey to the town of Weston.
Jeannette Ross, editor of The Wilton Bulletin, is nominated in the transportation reporting category for her story following commuters that take Metro North’s Danbury Branch line.
Josh asks Kate about her nomination in the social issues feature story category.
Later in show, Editorial Cartoonist Doug Smith gives us his take on this week’s news.
