Obituary: William H. Godwin, formerly of Shelton

William H. Godwin, aka “Frank Brady,” a presence in the Fairfield community, died suddenly in Bridgeport after being hit by a car on February 6, 2016.

Born in Bridgeport on June 20, 1928, Frank formerly lived in the Pine Rock Park area of Shelton and more recently at the Park City Residential Care Home in Bridgeport.

Frank served briefly in the U.S. Army and worked as a laborer for various companies throughout Connecticut and New York.

Frank had the gift of conversation and he could be seen chatting during the day with people in town discussing sports, politics and history. He always knew what was going on around town and loved to share it with his many friends. He touched everyone he knew and people left feeling uplifted by their conversations with him.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, Feb. 26, at 11 a.m., at First Church Congregational in Fairfield. Friends are invited to tell a story about Frank and how he affected their life on our online guestbook.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory in care of the funeral home.
