Oscars recap and Ridgefield’s first independent film festival

HAN Arts & Leisure with Sally Sanders, Steve Coulter and the “Reel Dad,” Mark Schumann, take a look at movies, the arts and other events going on in Fairfield County, Connecticut, and Westchester County, New York — and the surrounding area.

This week, Sally and Steve break down the Oscars: The good, the bad and the surprising. Steve also gloats a bit about his predictions proving true.

Later, Joanne Hudson, Ridgefield Independent Film Festival, director and founder joins Sally and Steve to talk about what the Academy Awards can do better.

We get a sneak peek at Ridgefield’s first film festival, happening this May.

According to the Riff site:

“riff2016 will bring the best new films we can find and, where possible, their makers from around the globe to Ridgefield Connecticut for thoughtful screenings in curated venues to a sophisticated and discerning audience.

“In addition, RIFF will offer master classes in different aspects of film and filmmaking to Ridgfielders and visitors, as well as panel discussions and filmmaker events to unite filmmakers with their audience. It is our sincere hope that out of these gatherings many fruitful alliances will be formed to create opportunities for future films to be made and shared.”
