Just like other parents throughout Connecticut, Shelton residents Peter and Lauren Johnson frequently take their son Colton (age 3) and daughter Oakley (age 1) to Stew Leonard’s in Norwalk to enjoy the store’s animatronic shows while they shopped. And, just like many other children throughout Fairfield County, the Johnsons quickly realized that Colton loved the Farm Fresh 5 so much that he was asking every day to go to Stew Leonard’s to watch the show.
For Colton’s third birthday this past year, Peter and Lauren decided to build Colton his very own scaled down version of the Farm Fresh 5. Using Stew Leonard’s milk and butter cartons, the Johnsons went to craft supply stores to find supplies to recreate the show. They used modeling clay for the faces; felt, foam, and wire for the arms; and wooden dowels covered by doll pants for the legs. Lauren sent a photo of their creation to Stew Leonard’s and the Johnson family was kind of enough to loan it to us for the next few months so that other families can enjoy it as well!
Notably, Lauren grew up in Wilton and Peter grew up Bridgeport and both have fond memories of shopping at Stew Leonard’s throughout their child. Lauren’s mother at one point even worked in the bakery at Stew’s!
