Connecticut Sports Talk, Mar. 8

Rob Adams and Donald Eng host Nutmeg Sports Monday-Wednesday from 2:00-2:30. On this edition of the show, Norwalk boys basketball head coach Tom Keyes comes on to help break down the brackets. Class LL is loaded with FCIAC teams, and Coach Keyes knows each team well.

The question is: which team will walk away with the crown?

Rob asked Coach Keyes to explain, from the perspective of the a coach, what goes into considering forfeiting a state playoff game, as Shelton did against Crosby. Edmund Conklin, a member of the Gaels, died in a car accident in Shelton.

Key matchups in the first round include Westhill and Fairfield Ludlowe, with the winner going on to likely play Shelton. Ludlowe lost to Prep earlier this year, and Westhill fell to the Jesuits in last year’s Class LL title game. Another interesting game has Stamford hosting Greenwich. Each team featured bonafide stars, as the Black Knights have Jay “Jimmer” DeVito, and Greenwich has shooting star Conor Harkins.

Rob and Don also glance at the hockey brackets, with Divisions II and III getting underway, and Divsion I starting play tomorrow. With this being Don’s last show of the week, who does he think will win the D-I title?
