CT Pulse, a show on politics, what’s trending in the Constitution state and more, airs Wednesdays at 12:30. Watch it on demand later, or see this week’s show below:
CT Pulse is hosted by Kate Czaplinski and Josh Fisher, both former Connecticut newspaper editors. Josh is HAN’s executive producer and Kate is news director.
This week, March 9, we welcome State Rep. Jason Perillo (R-113) to discuss budget, opioid crisis and politics. Perillo represents Shelton in Hartford and serves as the Republican Whip.
Later in the show, we discuss some of the stories we are following this week, including the fact that sanitary pads, diapers and tampons are considered “luxury goods” in the state of Connecticut and subject to sales tax. There is a Senate Bill on the table to eliminate sales tax on those items — find out why.
A Connecticut school is talking about “banning” the “R-word.”
We also delve back into our discussion we had last week on heroin and opioid addiction. We hear from a recovering addict and take a look at some interesting statistics om who in Connecticut is actually dying from overdoses.
Finally, Cartoonist Doug Smith helps us wrap things up with a look at his editorial cartoons this week.
