Police arrest alleged accomplice in armed robbery

Shelton Police has arrested a Monroe woman they say is involved in the robbery of the Shell Gas Station at 99 Bridgeport Ave.

Police served an arrest warrant on 29 year old Patricia Mercaldi of Monroe at Derby Superior Court. Mercaldi was charged with Conspiracy to Commit Robbery in the first degree. Mercaldi will be arraigned today at Derby Court.

Police arrested Kashawn Brown,23, Dec. 19 for allegedly robbing the gas station at gunpoint in October.

During the robbery Brown entered the station, pointed a handgun at the clerk and stole cash and cigars, Police Det. Ben Trabka said. Brown was later identified as a suspect by Bridgeport, Trumbull and Shelton Police. Brown was captured by Bridgeport Police on Nov. 15 and has been incarcerated since.

Brown was charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, and fifth degree larceny. He was held on $100,000 bond to be arraigned Wednesday.
