On March 17 Shelton Police arrested Walter Gonzalez,44, of Bridgeport on two active arrest warrants.

Gonzalez’s arrest stems from two reports of burglaries in late November of 2015.

One of the burglaries occurred on Lady Slipper Drive. Jewelry and a television were reported stolen from the property.

The other burglary occurred on Isinglass Road. A large safe was reported stolen. The homeowners reported 12 firearms and over $100,000 worth of jewelry was in the safe at the time.

Gonzalez was charged with 12 counts of theft of a firearm, two counts of burglary 3rd,  and criminal mischief 3rd. Gonzalez is being held on $450,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned in Derby Superior court.

Shelton Detectives recovered one of the stolen firearms and linked it to Gonzalez, according to a prepared statement by Detective Richard Bango.

A search warrant was obtained for Gonzalez’s Bridgeport residence and items including other firearms from one of the Shelton burglaries were discovered. Further investigation revealed Gonzalez was responsible for the Shelton burglaries and others in surrounding towns.
