Acts of kindness

We all felt so very powerless in the wake of the Newtown tragedy. Wanting to help and not being sure how to do it.

About a thousand teddy bears arrived at Hersam Acorn offices, donated by individuals and companies who hoped to provide some comfort to Newtown’s children.

Organizations and businesses have been holding drives and collections. Unfortunately this kind of tragedy can bring out scammers, who want to benefit off of our desire to help. But there are still plenty of great organizations to give too, you just may need to do a bit of research to make sure it’s going to the right place.

Or we can all follow the lead of students at Shelton Intermediate School, who are using money raised to do 26 random acts of kindness.

Perhaps we can buy a coffee for the person behind us, visit a lonely neighbor, or hold the door open for someone at that busy store.

There are so many possibilities and small ways we can help each other to heal, and believe in goodness again.
