The Olde Ripton Garden Club 40th Anniversary Year continues with a presentation by Trish Manfredi, on Monday, May 2. Manfredi is an accredited National Garden Club Flower Show Judge, and was Design Chair for the Connecticut Judges Council for five years, before becoming vice chair for the 2015-2016. She received the CT Federation of Garden Clubs Tribute Award for Design in 2012, and has been chair of judges for the CT State Flower Show for four years. She is a member of Country Gardeners of Glastonbury Garden Club and Creative Arrangers of Connecticut. She holds a doctorate in Educational Research.
Her presentation features exciting uses of color and texture. Manfredi will create five unique floral designs for the home using everyday and unusual containers. She’ll combine fresh flowers, foliage, fruits and vegetables in interesting ways. She’ll include tips and techniques that encourage creativity and make flowering arranging fun.
Club members will also be displaying “Mother’s Day gifts or Memorial Day” arrangements or baskets as well as “flowers with feathers”, Iris and Ferns and “Shades of Just Pink Flowers”.
The meeting is open to the public and lunch is provided after the presentations. The program will be held on Monday, March 7 at 10 am at the Plumb Memorial Library, Community Room (downstairs), 65 Wooster Street downtown Shelton.
Those interested in gardening are invited to attend. Volunteers who want to assist in working at community projects throughout Shelton are also encouraged to attend.
The Club is looking for new members at all levels of gardening to join. There will be a visitor fee of $5 to cover the cost of the speaker for non-members. For more info visit www.olderiptongardenclub.org or call Renee Protomastro at 203-775-6645.
