Moving company employee arrested for stolen firearm

Shelton Police arrested a Stratford man and charged him with stealing a firearm.

On Thursday, April 28 Shelton Police responded to a report of a stolen firearm at a residence that occurred while a moving company was moving belongings from one home to a new home.

Officers and Detectives determined that Anthony David Trotta, 22, was involved in the theft after interviewing several employees.

According to a prepared statement by Detective Chris Nugent of the Shelton Police, “The complainant reported to Officers that he went to retrieve his firearm, to personally move it to his new residence, however when he went to retrieve it was gone.”

The complainant  immediately notified Police, who quickly recovered the firearm that was hidden down the street in the woods.

More arrests are expected in this investigation.
