Snow blankets Shelton, advisory in effect

A winter weather advisory and a wind advisory is in effect for the area until 6 a.m. Sunday.

Snow started falling early Saturday afternoon and picked up around 4:30 p.m., with a couple of inches on the ground so far. The National Weather Service warned of hazardous driving into tonight, caused by periods of moderate snowfall and winds blowing snow.

Gusts of up to 30 miles per hour possible.  Snow will fall mainly before 1 a.m. and accumulations of up to five inches possible.
