Connecticut Sports Talk, May 3

Softball is the opening topic of the Tuesday edition of Nutmeg Sports. Rob Adams and Donald Eng welcome St. Joseph softball coach Jeff Babineau to the show to discuss his team and their overall success. What makes Trumbull a softball/baseball town?

Nicole Williams, star pitcher of the Cadets, gets some attention as well. She just pitched a perfect game against Brien McMahon last week, and is among the nominees for the HAN Network/FCIAC Athlete of the Week. The voting continues throughout the week, and concludes just after midnight next Monday. Rob and Don will name the winners on next Mondays show.

Besides naming our nominees for Athlete of the Week, Rob and Don list the students from the FCIAC that received recognition for the being scholar athletes, as named by the CIAC. Those students were honored at a banquet last weekend in Southington.

Lastly, due to the nasty weather, our tennis broadcast was postponed, but another game has been added to the broadcast schedule, as Westhill will visit Ridgefield on Friday in an important FCIAC baseball game. Rob will be outside of the old Ridgefield High School with the call at 4 p.m.

The HAN Network, formerly known as Hersam Acorn Newspapers, is the exclusive FCIAC broadcast partner through the spring of 2018. HAN Network’s broadcasting division replaced HANRadio.com with a new focus on live video streams of high school athletics along with the Network’s news and lifestyle programming.
