The Sarah Riggs Humphreys-Mary Silliman Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and the Huntington Branch Library are pleased to co-sponsor a Flag Day Program on Saturday, June 11 at 11 a.m. at the Huntington Branch Library located at 41 Church Street.
All are encouraged to come out on June 11th to learn about: Some Facts and Folklore of Old Glory During the American Revolution; How local Patriots, who are buried in the Huntington Burial Grounds, served during the Revolutionary War; What offerings the Library has if you are interested in learning more on this subject.
The Sarah Riggs Humphreys-Mary Silliman Chapter members will be collecting any flags brought to this program that are no longer serviceable and will ensure that the flags are disposed of properly.
The DAR perpetuates the memory and spirit of the men and women who won American independence. The group also helps maintain historic state properties. Any woman over 18 who can prove an ancestor served in the American Revolution is a prospective member. For more information on the DAR: http://www.sarahriggshumphreysDAR.org
