Girls track and field wins SCC Eastern Sectional

The Shelton High girls track and field team won the SCC Eastern Sectional title in Woodbridge on Monday.

Coach Jason Kymer’s Gaelettes totaled 147 points. Cheshire was second (131) and Amity Regional third (88.5).

Samantha Stevens was a double winner, taking titles in the shot put (39-05.25) and discus throw (115-05). She was second in the javelin (105-09).

Mary Lewis took home the high jump title at 4-8 to earn 10 team points.

Teyri-Teresa Reed-Quiles was second in the triple jump at 33-07.50. She was 16th in the 200 (28.13) and 18th in the long jump (13-09.75).

Liz Herlihy took second in the 100 meter hurdles in 16.52. Lyman Hall’s MacKenzie Wall won in 16.03. Herlihy was sixth in the 300 hurdles (52.60).

Kayla Sekelsky was second in the 300 meter hurdles in 49.68 and took fourth in the 100 hurdles (17.10).

The 4×400 relay team of Nadia Wilson, Tanya Adler, Alexandra Schiable and Amy Lynders placed second in 4:18.89.

Lauren Oakes was a triple bronze medalist, taking third in the shot put (34-05), the discus (97-02) and the javelin (104-00).

Sara Lipinski was third in the long jump at 16-04.50 and third in the triple jump at 33-06.

Nicole Pingree was third in the pole vault (7-6).

Amanda Lomonte was fourth in the 3200 in 12:41.24, followed by Viriginia Lewis (seventh in 12:46.63), Anna Weissenberg (11th in 12:58.08) and Jillian Engeldrum (18th in 13:44.46).

Nicole Norris was fourth in the discus (91-00) and 21st (24-11) in the shot put.

Erin Adler was fifth in the javelin (97-03), 13th in the shot put (28-06.50) and 20th in the discus (64-07).

Nicole Vartuli, Kristen Schuster, Sarah Skoronski and Heather Garrett placed fifth in the 4×800 (11:06.05).

In the 1600, Olivia Gill was sixth (5:47.89), Mariam Dobosz 20th (6:56.44) and Winnie Brumaire 22nd (7:30.24).

Skoronski was seventh in the 300 hurdles (52.95). Kassidy Quilles was 11th (54.08).

Pingree, Kelly Hurd, Lipinski and Tanya Adler were seventh in the 4×100 relay (53.59).

In the 400 meter dash, Lynders was seventh (1:03.74), Schiable was 14th (1:05.32), Nadia Wilson 16th (1:05.96) and Shuster 27th (1:08.26).

Julie Turner was eighth in the discus (85-00), 15th in the long jump (28-00) and 17th in the javelin (64-01).

Lauren Pawlowski was eighth in the pole vault (7-0).

Tanya Adler was seventh in the 100-meter dash (13.40).

Yasmeen Dabiran was ninth in the javelin (82-1), 18th in the shot put (26-07.75) and 23rd in the discus (62-06).

Hurd was ninth in the high jump (4-4).

In the 800, Vartuli was 13th (2:39.79), Devon Spisto 16th (2:40.50), Heather Garrett 19th (2:45.38) and Julia Riccio 21st (2:48.32).

Quilles was 16th in the triple jump (28-03.5) and Zaria Siler was 18th (28-00.25).
