Huntington Branch Library

Stories with Danielle – Thursday, May 26, 11 a.m. Join Danielle as she engages children, ages 3 to 4, with this drop-in storybook session.

 

Show-and-Tell Stories – Friday, May 27, 10:30 a.m. Children of all ages listen to Miss Marissa share stories, then, enjoy a craft or a game; be sure to bring along a show-and-tell item.

 

Bouncing Babies & Jumping Beans – Tuesday, May 31, 10:30 a.m. AND 11 a.m. Snuggly wee ones and energetic toddlers (infants to age 3) join Miss Marissa for scarves, maracas, stories, and bubbles!

 

Toddler Movement – Wednesday, June 1, 11 a.m. Miss Robin provides a fun, active musical program for children ages 2 1/2 – 4 and caregivers; sessions run for an entire month, register now.

 

If You Give a Dad a Donut – Saturday, June 4, 11:30 a.m. Celebrate Father’s Day early as children of all ages and their fathers and grandfathers listen to a story about donuts, enjoy a snack, and a fun activity!

 

Jr. LEGO® Builders – Monday, June 6, 6 p.m. Children, ages 1 – 4, listen to an under-the-sea story then build with the library’s giant LEGO® and Duplo bricks – can you make a boat? Register now.

 

LEGO® Club – Monday, June 6, 6:45 p.m. Attention all kids 5-12 – take our challenge to invent your own sea monster – use the library’s LEGO® bricks! Masterpieces will be displayed in the Family Services Department for two weeks; register now.

 

As I See It – Wednesday, June 8, 1 p.m. Friends of the Shelton Libraries offer a film viewing and discussion over desserts; new members and opinions welcome.

 

Sand Sculpture Photo Contest Begins – Friday, June 10. Whenever at the beach, children and teens can snap photos of their sand creations and submit them for the chance to win! The winning prize is  a colorful sand art kit; pick up contest rules starting June 10,  entries due by August 8.

Plumb Memorial Library

 

Holiday Closing – Monday, May 30 – Both libraries are closed for Memorial Day, and will re-open on Tuesday for regular schedules. Outside book and media returns are available when the libraries are closed; the library website (www.sheltonlibrarysystem.org) is accessible 24/7 on computers or mobile devices for reviewing borrower records or searching the library catalogs plus using online databases.

 

Adult Book Group – If you are interested in being part of a new group forming at Plumb Memorial

Library, return an interest survey by June 23. Surveys are available at both libraries. Members will determine best day and time as well as genre for the group’s reading, all opinions welcome.

 

AlphaBits  – Thursdays,  May 26, 10:30 a.m.  Pre-school kids drop-in for this interactive Story Time: we Hokey Pokey, share a story, engage in Hands-on Centers, Freezer Dance and My Energy.

 

Legislative Update – Thursday, May 26, 6 p.m. State Representatives Perillo and McGorty join State Senator Kelly for this question and answer session on state and local issues. The public is welcome to stop in, the meeting is in the ground floor meeting room and is handicapped accessible.

 

Stay & Play – Friday, May 27, 10:30 a.m. Open play dates for preschoolers and caregivers, suitable for babies and young children; drop in and bring a snack, tea and juice provided.

 

Book Boogie – Tuesday, May 31, 1:30 p.m. New Pre-school fun for ages 0-5. Stomp your feet! Clap your hands!  Get ready to boogie in this interactive musical adventure with Miss Maura – drop in and explore stories, instruments, songs and parachute fun!

 

knit! – Tuesday, May 31, 6 p.m. Adult fiber fans meet to knit, crochet and chat, lots of support and fellowship in this drop in group, stop in and bring a friend.

 

Rubber Ducky Reading Club – Wednesday, June 1, Pre-schoolers and their families kick off the summer with this reading club with no meetings! Pick up your activity log for June and return it when completed for a prize; continues through the summer. And register for 1000 Books B4 Kindergarten, too!

 

Piggie & Gerald Party – Saturday, June 4, 10:30 a.m. Celebrate these entertaining book characters and their friendship through a story, party games and crafts plus a treat, drop in fun!

 

Budding Bookworms – Monday, June 6, 10:30 a.m. Drop-in with Miss Maura for a themed story and craft, then Freezer Dance and Do Re Mi, last session until Fall.

 

Fun for Little Ones  – Tuesday, June 7, 10 a.m. Children ages 1-5 are invited to join Mrs. Fritsch for stories, songs, activities and a special theme related craft, siblings always welcome; drop in.

 

Wacky Sports- Tuesday, June 7, 1 p.m. All ages fun with pool noodles, marbles and straws – drop in for this funny take on sports with Miss Maura – no athletic ability required!

 

Who Is It? Book Club – Wednesday, June 8, 6 p.m. Exclusively for 3rd, 4th and 5th graders – featuring the popular Who Is … Biography Series; be prepared to discuss the book and engage in a hands-on activity based on the person of the book. Copies of this month’s book, Who Is Amelia Earhart? are at the Children’s Desk for check-out one month prior to the book club session.

 

Home Delivery – Shelton residents who cannot get to the library due to temporary or permanent

disability are welcome to apply for home delivery of library materials. Contact Branch Library, 203- 926-0111). A project underwritten with support from the Friends of the Library and the Valley Community Foundation.
