Connecticut Sports Talk, May 16

The final week of the regular season gets underway and there are still playoff spots to be claimed. Later in the day, the HAN Network will be at Nathan Hale Middle School as the Norwalk Bears host the Fairfield Warde Mustangs in baseball.

On this edition of Nutmeg Sports, Rob Adams and Donald Eng open the week — and the show — by visiting with Al Carbone, the commissioner of the SCC. Al is always a great guest, and the guys hit on a series of topics worth discussing, including the spring season, out of conference games, and a lot more.

Also on the Monday show is Mike Scott, the coach of the first-place Darien Blue Wave. With a win against Greenwich later in the day, the Wave will lock up the top seed in the FCIAC playoffs. No number one seed has won the conference championship in baseball since 2009.

Coach Scott touches on the Blue Wave season, including their early season loss to Danbury — a game that was on the HAN Network.

To close the show, it’s time to reveal the HAN Network Athletes of the Week, and introduce the nominees to be voted on this week.

The HAN Network, formerly known as Hersam Acorn Newspapers, is the exclusive FCIAC broadcast partner through the spring of 2018. HAN Network’s broadcasting division replaced HANRadio.com with a new focus on live video streams of high school athletics along with the Network’s news and lifestyle programming.
