A gallon of regular gas in The Nutmeg State today is $2.46, $.03 cents higher than this time last week; but $.39 cents lower than this time last year.
Nationally, average prices today are $2.32, also up $.03 cents; but down $.42 cents compared to this time last year.
Rising crude oil prices, declining supplies and greater demand because of the cheaper prices are now fueling higher gas prices at the pump.
AAA’s weekly survey of prices in the Nutmeg State’s four regional areas as follows:
- Greater Bridgeport/Stamford $2.52
- New Haven/Meriden $2.45
- Greater Hartford $2.44
- New London/Norwich $2.45
- Statewide average $2.46
California and Hawaii at $2.81 and $2.70, respectively, continue to lead the pack of states with the highest average prices. Mississippi and Texas at $2.08 and $2.09, respectively, are the states with the lowest prices. CT moved up one spot, to 13th place in terms of the highest prices in the nation.
