Amity rolls over Shelton

Mikaila Schmitt and Chloe Brinton combined to score 30 points, leading the Amity High girls basketball team past visiting Shelton High, 39-24, on Friday night in an SCC Housatonic Division matchup in Woodbridge.

Schmitt scored a game-high 16 points, while Brinton added 14 — including seven points during a 13-0 run to start the second half that put the Spartans (7-1) ahead 31-12 midway through the third quarter.

Amity held the Gaelettes (3-5) without a field goal until the 4:35-mark of the second quarter, building up a 13-1 advantage it never relinquished.

Alyssa Eannotti led Shelton with eight points, while Jessica Wilm chipped in with six — all in the second half.
