Operation Fuel has named Karen Adamson, of Vernon, Conn., as its new executive director. She will replace Patricia Wrice who is retiring on June 30 after nearly 19 years as executive director.
“After a long and thoughtful search process, the board of directors has selected Karen Adamson. Although my decision to leave has been bittersweet, I am delighted that Operation Fuel will be in capable hands. Karen brings to the organization both a great deal of experience and a passion for this work,” said Wrice.
Adamson has a background in both education and the nonprofit sector. After a career in education, she has served in a series of progressively responsible nonprofit positions. Adamson most recently was vice president of community engagement and performance for the Access Community Action Agency in Willimantic, Conn.
“I am excited and honored to be joining Operation Fuel,” said Adamson adding, “Under Pat Wrice’s visionary leadership, the organization has been a voice for households that can not afford the high energy costs in our state, particularly seniors on a fixed income and working families who struggle to make ends meet. The mission of Operation Fuel is a great match to my personal mission to help eliminate the barriers to economic stability faced by low- to moderate-income families and individuals. I am looking forward to being part of the team and continuing this essential work.”
Adamson will start at Operation Fuel on June 20.
“The board of directors is very happy that Karen is joining Operation Fuel. She brings a unique combination of experience to the organization. We are looking forward to working with her. The board also wants to thank Pat Wrice for her years of dedication and passion for Operation Fuel,” said Nancy Bulkeley, chairperson of Operation Fuel’s board of directors.
