Sand Sculpture Photo Contest Begins – Friday, June 24. Whenever at the beach, children and teens can snap photos of their sand creations and submit them for the chance to win! The winning prize is a

(Healthy) Cookie Dough – Monday, June 27, 1:30 p.m. Shop-Rite Dietitian Jenna Hourani teaches children and teens to make cookie dough that is actually good for you! Nappy’s Puppets – Tuesday, June 28, 1:30 p.m. Sing-A-Long with the silliest songs around – “Little Bunny Foo-Foo” and “The Little Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly”! Children, ages 2 and up, are invited to sing along to this funny shadow puppet performance; register now.
Toddler Movement – Wednesday, June 29, 11 a.m. Miss Robin provides a fun, active musical program for children ages 2 1/2 – 4 and caregivers; sessions run for an entire month, register now.
Throwback Thursday – Thursday, June 30, 1:30 p.m. Kids, ages 4-8, listen to the stories and songs that their parents and grandparents loved as children! Each week, Miss Marissa reads stories from a decade between the 1940s and 1990s.Then, children listen to pop hits from that period while playing with the giant parachute!
As I See It – Wednesday, July 13, 1 p.m. Friends of the Shelton Libraries offer a film viewing and discussion over desserts; new members and opinions welcome.
Plumb Memorial Library
Saturday closing – Plumb Memorial Library is closed on Saturdays through the summer until after Labor Day. The Huntington Branch Library in the Community Center is open every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Rubber Ducky Reading Club –Thursday, June 23. Pre-schoolers and their families kick off the summer with this reading club with no meetings! Pick up your activity log for June and return it when completed for a prize; continues through the summer. Get started on 1000 Books B4 Kindergarten, too!
AlphaBits – Thursday, June 23, 10:30 a.m. Pre-school kids drop-in for this interactive Story Time: we Hokey Pokey, share a story, engage in Hands-on Centers, Freezer Dance and My Energy.
Life is Art – Thursdays, June 23 and 30, 6 p.m. Tweens ages 10 and up create a variety of projects with upcycled materials; drop in and express your inner artist!
On Your Mark, Get Set…Read! Monday, June 27, children entering Kindergarten through Grade 6 in September register now- online or in person! Sign up and receive your first Bingo card to complete and earn Kids Cash plus tickets for raffle prizes. Kids Cash is for use by children in Plumb’s Kids Only Store and raffle prizes will be awarded in August. Once you’ve registered look for special email invitations to members-only activity programs!
Adult Summer Reading – Monday, June 27, 9 a.m. The 8th Annual reading program for adults first prize drawing – this week a gift certificate from Written Word! Sponsored by the Friends of the Shelton Libraries and now underway at both libraries, the read and review raffles return with weekly prizes for the lucky winner at each library. Pick up some review forms now and get reading!
Special Events – Monday June 27. Children registered for the Kids Summer Reading Club get special email invitations to events planned just for them. Look for karate and Plumb’s zumba this week. Register now – in person or online to reserve a space in some of these extra special health and exercise programs with limited seating.
Wacky Sports – Tuesday, June 28, 1 p.m. All ages fun with pool noodles, marbles and straws – drop in for this funny take on sports with Miss Maura – no athletic ability required!
knit! – Tuesday, June 28, 6 p.m. Adult fiber fans meet to knit, crochet and chat, lots of support and fellowship in this drop in group, stop in and bring a friend.
Sciencetellers – Wednesday, June 29, 1:30 p.m. Live science for kids of all ages: fast paced adventure that makes things fly, soar and bounce through a series of stories bound to energize and engage; free tickets available 30 minutes before the doors open.
Movie & Popcorn – Wednesday, June 29, 6 p.m. The Peanuts movie is served with fresh popcorn, families may bring their own drinks (no alcohol, of course!) for this free showing.
Focus on Friends: Train Trips –Thursday, June 30, 6 p.m. Drop in and Steve Gould shares some of his adventures on the rails, plus hear about the Danbury Rail Museum. The library has a reduced admission pass for the museum. Round out the evening with casual conversation and refreshments plus door prizes; sponsored by the Friends of the Shelton Libraries.
Stay & Play – Friday, July 1, 10:30 a.m. Kids ages 0-5 and their caregivers share an open play time with library’s age appropriate toys, adults can chat over snacks. Drop in and bring a friend.
Home Delivery – Shelton residents who cannot get to the library due to temporary or permanent disability are welcome to apply for home delivery of library materials.
