The proposed Planned Development District on Bridgeport Avenue is a bad deal for Shelton. With a plan of this size, there are no guarantees about its effect on Shelton services and taxes. What the developer CAN guarantee are traffic hassles, high density development, and permanent change to the quality of life Shelton residents currently enjoy. Further, this development, unlike most PDDs, provides no quality open space to residents in exchange for its zone variance. In fact, it destroys Shelton’s hopes of a Paugussett Trail extension on the back part of the property with pristine views of a Revolutionary War era road. All Shelton residents should attend the hearing on Tuesday, June 28 at 7 pm at Shelton Intermediate School and oppose the proposed zone change before the Planning & Zoning board.
