Saturday Openings – The Huntington Branch Library in the Community Center is open every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Plumb Memorial Library is closed on Saturdays through the summer until after Labor Day.
Stories with Danielle – Thursdays, July 7 and 14, 11 a.m. Join Danielle as she engages children, ages 3 to 4, with this drop-in storybook session.
Throwback Thursday – Thursdays, July 7 and 14, 1:30 p.m. Kids, ages 4-8, listen to the stories and songs that their parents and grandparents loved as children! Each week, Miss Marissa reads stories from a decade between the 1940s and 1990s. Then, children listen to pop hits from that period while playing with the giant parachute!
Show-and- Tell Stories – Friday, July 8 and 15, 10:30 a.m. Children of all ages listen to Miss Marissa share stories, then, enjoy a craft or a game; be sure to bring along a show-and- tell item.
High Energy Juggling Demo – Friday, July 8, 3 p.m. Tweens and teens meet comedic juggler Jason Tardy as he demos juggling tricks and stunts, then learn how to juggle! This is a Plumb/Huntington event, taking place at the branch – meet teens from the other side of town; register now.
Sand Sculpture Photo Contest Begins – Friday, July 8. Whenever at the beach, children and teens can snap photos of their sand creations and submit them for the chance to win! The winning prize is a colorful sand art kit;. pick up contest rules entries due by August 8.
Music Video Makers- Monday, July 11, 6:30 p.m. Children, ages 6-11, sample music videos ranging from Merrie Melodies cartoons to pop hits. Then, participants work together to create their own mini music video! The video will be shared with parents at the end of session, register now.
Bouncing Babies & Jumping Beans – Tuesday, July 12, 10:30 a.m. AND 11 a.m. Snuggly wee ones and energetic toddlers (infants to age 3) join Miss Marissa for scarves, maracas, stories, and bubbles!
Learn About Llamas – Tuesday, July 12, 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Children of all ages get up close and personal with the llamas from Rowanwood Farm; learn llama facts, listen to a llama story, and sing llama songs, two sessions – register now!
Canine Book Buddies – Wednesday, July 13, 11 a.m. Children ages 5-10 can reserve a 15-minute time slot through the morning. Kids read to ZuZu, a standard poodle certified by Therapy Dogs International;registration is required. Children may register for multiple sessions after first-time readers have had a chance to register.
As I See It – Wednesday, July 13, 1 p.m. Friends of the Shelton Libraries offer a film viewing and discussion over desserts; new members and opinions welcome.

Read-Together Club – Saturday, July 16, 1:30 p.m. Children 5-8, and their caregivers can borrow a copy of Betty G. Birney’s Humphrey’s Creepy-Crawly Camping Adventure about a classroom pet hamster who goes on a camping trip in a student’s backyard! AlphaBits – Thursdays, July 7, 10:30 a.m. Pre-school kids drop-in for this interactive Story Time: we Hokey Pokey, share a story, engage in Hands-on Centers, Freezer Dance and My Energy.

Adult Summer Reading – Monday, July 11, 9 a.m. The 8 th Annual reading program for adults prize drawing – this week a gift certificate from Laurel Glen Farm at Shelton Farmers Market. Sponsored by the Friends of the Shelton Libraries and now underway at both libraries, the read and review raffles return with weekly prizes for the lucky winner at each library. Pick up some review forms now and get reading!
Olde Ripton Garden Club – Monday, July 11, 10 a.m. area gardeners and plant enthusiasts gather to share information and speakers, new members welcome.
Monday Makers – Monday, July 11, 10:30 a.m. Kids of all ages create one of a kind inventions from recycled materials, drop in and join Miss Maura to “exercise” your brain.
On Your Mark, Get Set…Read! Monday, July 11, children entering Kindergarten through Grade 6 in September register now- online or in person! Sign up and receive your first Bingo card to complete and earn Kids Cash plus tickets for raffle prizes. Kids Cash is for use by children in Plumb’s Kids Only Store and raffle prizes will be awarded in August. Once you’ve registered look for special email invitations to members-only activity programs!
Special Events – Monday July 11. Children registered for the Kids Summer Reading Club get special email invitations to events planned just for them. Look for yoga for 9-12 year olds this week. Teen Volunteer Orientation – Tuesday, July 12, 3 p.m. Teens who need community service hours – stop in anytime to complete an application and attend this orientation; no registration required. Orientation is required before volunteer time is scheduled, the two hours of orientation count towards your total.
