Police responding to a burglar alarm in downtown Shelton early Thursday say they caught a man who had broken into a local establishment.
Other officers searching the surrounding area said they found 23-year-old Alexis Sanchez of Shelton running from the scene. He was caught after a brief foot chase, police said.
Cash that was taken from the business was found nearby, according to police.
Sanchez was charged with third-degree burglary, first-degree criminal mischief, interfering with a police officer, sixth-degree larceny and possession of burglary tools. Bond and court date information were not available.
Shelton police said they are still investigating a similar burglary at Bricks and Barley on June 30.
