H3 Pet Supply closing Shelton store

H3 Pet Supply is closing its Shelton store, at 350 Bridgeport Ave., on Jan. 15 and operating solely from it’s Stratford location.

“It is with very heavy hearts that we have made the decision to close our Shelton store,” a release from owners Cindy Socha and Lisa Gay said. “Our lease at our Shelton location is expiring on January 31, 2013. We have tried to negotiate a reasonable renewal agreement with our landlord but we were not able to do so.”

The owners opened in Stratford’s Big Y Plaza, 475 Hawley Lane, about a year ago.

“This spot was chosen as it is only a few minutes from Bridgeport Avenue and about 7 miles from our Shelton store,” the release said. “The Stratford location is much larger than Shelton (more than twice the space) thus the amount of products we carry is significantly more. We have an expanded offering for not just cats and dogs, but also small animals, reptiles, fish and birds.”

Frequent buyer plans will remain in effect as previous purchases will carry over to the new store and gift cards will be honored at the Stratford store, the owners said. Our Shelton staff will all be transferring to Stratford.

“We realize that closing our Shelton location will be an inconvenience to many and we are deeply sorry for this,” they said. “Shelton will always be where we got our start. The support we received from the Shelton community has been a source of great pride for both of us. We hope to continue serving all of our customers at our Stratford store.”
