John F. Lauretti Jr., 65, of Temple, Texas, formerly of Connecticut, husband of Marion Lauretti, died July 16, at home, after a courageous battle with cancer. His final days were spent surrounded by his wife, siblings, and his two dogs, Jake and Dexter.
Born in Derby on Feb. 10, 1951, he was a son of the late John F. and Margaret Rose Savignano Lauretti Sr.
John was an avid sports fan whose favorite teams included The Boston Red Sox, Dallas Cowboys, and New England Patriots. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Sutter Terlizzi Post # 16 in Shelton. John loved to cook,and eat good food, but especially loved vacationing at the shore and spending time with his family.
His warm smile and pleasant disposition will be deeply missed by his family in Connecticut and Texas.
John is the father of Matthew Lauretti, of Bologna Italy, the brother of Mayor Mark A. Lauretti and his wife, Andee, Allegra Fitzgerald, and her husband, Paul, and Luke Lauretti. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by a brother, David Lauretti.
Visiting hours: Thursday July 28, 4-7 p.m., Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton. Services: Friday, 11 a.m., in St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Avenue. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery, Derby.
