TOMORROW– Trails Work Party on Gristmill Trail

On Saturday July 23 at 8:30 a.m on the Gristmill Trail in Shelton there  will be brush trimming, the creation of stone pathways, and general trail repairs. Bring loppers or pruning shears. Tools will be provided if you can’t bring your own.

Dress for the weather and be aware that this is tick and annoying insects season, so a  insect repellent containing Deet could keep the critters at bay. Sturdy work gloves are a  necessity, waterproof shoes or boots recommended. This Saturday is going to be hot and muggy, but we will be in the shade and next to the river. Be sure to bring something to drink and maybe a snack. Keeping hydrated in this weather is very important!

The trail committee will meet at 8:30 a.m. at the small parking area on Mill Street. Look for the kiosk (Near 171 Mill St.). Alternate parking just down the road at the other end of the trail (a short walk, as the Gristmill Trail is only ⅓ mile long.

If you are participating in the Shelton Trails Marathon, you can complete the Gristmill Trail (#2) portion of the marathon. See you there, and bring a friend! If you haven’t yet been on any of the work parties, and you enjoy using the hiking paths throughout Shelton, it’s a great opportunity to learn the trails close-up and help repair, maintain, and sometimes create them. It’s a great opportunity to meet folks with similar interest and make new friends. And they can always use the help!
