A woman was injured in a hit-and-run in Ansonia Wednesday, and police are seeking the driver who fled the scene in an SUV Wednesday, July 27.
Officers responding to 911 calls around 7:35 a.m. found a woman on the ground, being tended to by a passer-by, after being struck by a vehicle on Wakelee Avenue near Jackson Street.
The woman, who suffered a head injury and complained of hip pain according to police, was taken to St. Vincent’s Medical Center.
The victim told police she had parked her car and just gotten out when she was struck by an unknown vehicle. She was unable to provide much more detail, but police said the SUV left the area going south on Wakelee Avenue. Witnesses on scene described it as a small dark colored SUV.
Police are asking the public for help finding the SUV. Surveillance video police gathered from surrounding businesses shows a potential suspect vehicle and released two photos. Detectives would like to speak to the driver at 203-735-1885.
The woman who was struck is in stable condition and the injuries are considered non-life threatening, according to Ansonia Police.
