Baseball: Shelton’s Connor Jensen pitches in National Championships

Connor Jensen from Shelton was the starting pitcher for the East Coast versus the West Coast in the 12U All-Star National Youth Baseball Championships at the Baseball Heaven Sports Complex in Yaphank (N.Y.) on July 29.

The game was televised nationally on CBS Sports and streamed on MLB.com. Fourteen players were selected from each coast from more than 500 player nominations.

Former Major League baseball players and managers Bobby Valentine coached the East team and Jerry Manuel the West. The East team was victorious in each of the two game tournament. Brita Corporation sponsored the event.

Jensen pitches for the league leading CT Riverdogs out of the East Shore League in New Haven.

Their successful season was guided by head coach Darren Toth and assistant coaches Joe Defilippo, Mark daSilva, Tom Connery, Mike Lockavitch and Rich Licursi (TSA).
