Saturday Openings – The Huntington Branch Library in the Community Center is open every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Plumb Memorial Library is closed on Saturdays through the summer until after Labor Day.
Stories with Danielle – Thursday, Aug. 4, 11 a.m. Join Danielle as she engages children, ages 3 to 4, with this drop-in storybook session.
Throwback Thursday: 90’s – Thursday, Aug. 4, 1:30 p.m. Kids, ages 4-8, listen to the stories and songs that their parents and grandparents loved as children! This week, Miss Marissa reads stories from the 90’s then children listen to pop 90’s hits while playing with the giant parachute!
Show-and-Tell Stories – Friday, Aug. 5, 10:30 a.m. Children of all ages listen to Miss Marissa share stories, then, enjoy a craft or a game; be sure to bring along a show-and-tell item.
Reading Rock Star Program Ends – Friday, Aug. 5, 5 p.m. Last day for children and teens to hand in their summer reading BINGO cards for the chance to win prizes. BINGO cards are due by library closing.
Sand Sculpture Photo Contest Entries Due – Monday, Aug.8. The last day for children and teens to submit photos of their sand creations for the chance to win a colorful sand art kit.
Rock Star Olympics – Monday, Aug. 8, 5:30 p.m. Children, ages 3-10, do Guitar Player Lunges, Microphone Lifts, and more during this rock ‘n’ roll fitness game; register now!
Reading Rock Star Bash – Tuesday, Aug. 9, 3:3 0p.m. Celebrate the end of the Reading Rock Star Program! DJ Gym gets kids moving with group dances and just-for-fun contests while playing popular music! Attendees are encouraged to dress like rock stars! This program is open to reading program participants only; register now.
Sight Word Twister – Wednesday, Aug. 10, 11 a.m. Kids, ages 4-7, practice recognizing simple words while playing “the game that ties you up in knots!” register now.
As I See It – Wednesday, Aug. 10, 1 p.m. Friends of the Shelton Libraries offer a film viewing and discussion over desserts; new members and opinions welcome.
Snap Circuits – Monday, Aug. 15, 5:30 p.m. Children, ages 8-12, get a hands-on introduction to electronics! Snap together components create working circuit boards; register now.

Rubber Ducky Reading Club –Thursday, Aug. 4 pre-schoolers and their families continue this summer reading club with no meetings! Pick up an activity log for August and return it when completed for a prize; continues through August 25. Get started on 1000 Books B4 Kindergarten, too!
Focus on Friends: Chef Deb – Thursday, Aug 4, 6 p.m. Community guests, refreshments, door prizes and casual conversation are on offer from 6-8 p.m. in the Plumb Reading Room. Meet Debbie Barbiero of Deb’s Healthy Plate who shares tips and ideas for summer eating from her cookbooks plus insights on her Metamorphosis health and nutrition guidance as personal chef and Certified Nutritional Health and Life Coach AADP. This series is underwritten by the Friends of the Shelton Libraries and new members are welcome, drop in and bring a friend.
Summer Salsa Dance Fun – Thursday, Aug. 4, 6 p.m. Kids 6-12 years welcome to experiment with this Latin kid-friendly dance fun, no experience needed, Members of Kids Summer Reading Club have priority and space limited so register now, in person or online.
Stay & Play – Fridays, Aug. 5, 10:30 a.m. Kids ages 0-5 and their caregivers share an open play time with library’s age appropriate toys, adults can chat over snacks. Drop in and bring a friend.
On Your Mark, Get Set…Read! Friday, Aug. 5, 9 a.m. The Plumb Summer Reading Program, for children entering Kindergarten through Grade 6 in September, ends today. Completed Bingo cards, Kids Cash and tickets for raffle prizes should all be turned in by closing today. Kids Cash is for use by children in Plumb’s Kids Only Store and raffle prizes will be awarded at August 10 party. There’s no time to waste! Please take a moment to complete our survey to make next summer’s program even better.

Adult Summer Reading – Monday, Aug 8, 9 a.m. The 8th Annual reading program for adults prize drawing – this week a gift certificate from Grow Restaurant! Sponsored by the Friends of the Shelton Libraries and now underway at both libraries; the read and review raffles return with weekly prizes for the lucky winner at each library. Book Sale Meeting – Tuesday, Aug 9, 5:30 p.m. Friends of the Shelton Libraries Book Sale Committee meets to discuss plans for October sale; new or returning members of committee welcome. No experience necessary, merely willing hands – training will be offered.
Airborne Jugglers – Wednesday, Aug 10, 6 p.m. End of Summer Party! Kids who participated in the Summer Reading Program celebrate the end of summer with all-ages fun; free tickets available 30 minutes before the doors open. Raffle winners will be announced. Frozen treats from Rita’s of Shelton.
