On the Wednesday, August 3, episode of Nutmeg Sports Frank is joined by New Canaan Advertiser Editor Dave Stewart and guest Clark Jones to talk about the Hockey Skills Academy and their camps which start next week.
Clark Jones, a former Division 1 player for Union College, is the Director of Hockey at the newly renovated Darien Ice House and founder of the Hockey Skills Academy. Clark joins Frank and Dave on the show to talk about Hockey Skills Academy camps at the Darien Ice House that start August 8 and run until the end of the month. The camps are run by former pro player Sean Hurley, and gold medalists Barbara Julien and Chrisiti Jones and focuses on the fundamental development of both skating and skill for the campers.
Next Dave Stewart takes a look at several local standout athletes who are making their way down to Rio for the 2016 Olympic Games. New Canaan will have two members of the crew team and one more on the Water Polo team.
Dave also talks about 5 local girls who were invited down to Maryland this upcoming weekend to try out for the United States National Lacrosse team. The USWL National Program invited down over 60 girls for round 1 of try out and they will make their way down to the final roster size of 30 by Sunday.
Frank also wraps up local baseball tournaments looking at the Fairfield American Little League team that starts it’s regional tournament this weekend, with a Little League World Series berth on the line.
