The Shelton High girls summer league basketball team dropped a 55-45 decision to Harding High of Bridgeport in the Stratford Recreation Department High School Girls Summer Basketball League at the Birdseye Complex.

The Presidents knocked down back-to-back 3-pointers to start the game and never looked back, leading wire-to-wire.

Casey O’Connor’s steal and layup got the Gaelettes on the board at the 15:12 mark, narrowing the gap to 8-2. A triple from Emily Renkowsky narrowed the gap to 13-8, but Harding hit eight 3-pointers in the first half to build a 33-18 lead at the break.

Shelton went on a 7-0 run to open the second half, before Harding put the game away with an 18-5 flurry that extended the President lead to 51-30. The Gaelettes closed out the contest with a 13-2 burst, capped by Jess Foss’s 3-pointer, but Harding cruised to the 10-point victory.
