Stratford dispatcher identified as victim in fatal crash

A veteran Stratford dispatcher died after her car crashed early Monday morning at Paradise Green.

Stratford Police Deputy Chief John Popik said Laura Price, 35, of Seymour, was heading north on Main Street in her vehicle at about 12:05 a.m. Monday when the car crossed into the southbound lane near Fenelon Place. Popik said the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. Price was taken to Bridgeport Hospital and died a short time later from injuries sustained in the crash.

Popik said the investigation into the crash will take several weeks before it is completed.

“We are exploring all possibilities that may have contributed to the cause of the crash,” the deputy chief said.

Price was a Stratford emergency dispatcher for eight years, Popik said. Prior to that, she served with the Shelton Fire Department.

“Laura was an experienced dispatcher and a wonderful person who will be deeply missed by her colleagues at the Stratford Police Department,” Popik said. “Right now, we’re keeping Laura’s family in our thoughts.”

The Stratford Town Council held a moment of silence in Price’s honor prior to its regular meeting on Monday,
