Shelton police made two drug related arrests Tuesday afternoon following a Detective’s on site investigation of a man who had outstanding warrants.
On Aug. 9 just before 5:30 p.m, an undercover Shelton Detective observed a man attempting to pull out of an apartment building parking lot when he noticed a work van that was parked improperly and blocking the exit.
The man who was unable to exit the parking lot has been identified as Joshua Sanchez, 25, exited his vehicle on foot and appeared to be looking for the owner of the van. Sanchez then walked up the street where he was allegedly seen speaking to another man in a vehicle.
Officers stopped Sanchez following his conversation with the other man and took him into custody on the outstanding arrest warrants.
After further investigation, officers identified the man seen speaking with Sanchez as Justin Geffert, 26, of Shelton. Officers then determined that Geffert had just purchased heroin from Sanchez. Heroin and crack cocaine were allegedly located in the vehicle Sanchez initially exited.
Sanchez was arrested and charged with illegal possession and illegal possession with intent to sell. He posted a $10,000 bond and was turned over to Ansonia Police Department on the outstanding warrant.
Geffert was also arrested and charged with illegal possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. Geffert was placed on a $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 10.
Shelton Police are continuing to investigate drug dealing and are asking anyone with information to contact the department. Calls may be kept confidential.
According to police, the owner of the work van was located shortly after the incident unraveled, inside a local business, who then promptly moved the improperly parked vehicle.
