FRIDAY, 2 P.M. — Shelton police said it will be at least an hour, or 3 p.m., before Bridgeport Avenue reopens.
According to a release from Echo Hose Company, Shelton Fire Companies 1 and 4 were dispatched to a collision on Bridgeport Avenue near Wendy’s around noon. Squad 1 arrived to find a two-vehicle accident with one person heavily trapped in one of the vehicles. Firefighters from Squad 1 and Engine 42 freed the occupant in about 20 minutes. The patient was transported by Echo Hose Ambulance shortly after with unknown injuries, according to the fire department release.
FRIDAY, 1:30 P.M. — Bridgeport Avenue is closed early Friday afternoon, Aug. 12, after a two-car crash that Shelton Police called “serious.”
The crash occurred around noon near Walmart, 465 Bridgeport Ave.
The road was closed between Crown Point Plaza and Long Hill Cross Road as a Shelton Police accident reconstruction team investigated the circumstances around 1:20 p.m.
In the initial release, police did not specify how many people were hurt, nor the severity of any injuries.
Shelton Police, fire and EMS crews responded to the crash.
